About Timmy

Timmy, 2yo, 66lb. neutered black lab mix is available for adoption Background Timmy was found as a stray in Antioch and taken to the local shelter. The staff had a sign on his kennel saying "slow movements only - he gets scared with fast movements." He is a bit timid on meeting new people and was not doing well in the Shelter so they contacted GGLR and asked us to find him a home. Notes from his evaluator: It was his first time in the outdoor play yard so he spent a lot of time with his head down sniffing. Wasn't that interested in engaging with me even after I tossed treats his way, or playing with toys or balls. When I first touched him, he stiffened - he was just scared. Did not get aggressive at all. After 10-15 minutes, he was more comfortable and would come take treats out of my hand and then was comfortable with me petting him and touching him all over, including hugging him. He now seemed to enjoy it. Once he was more comfortable he ran after the ball a few times when I tossed it. No food guarding, and walking was pretty easy as he wasn't pulling a lot. No dog-dog greeting test but his body language seemed calm and neutral when he was watching other dogs that were out being walked. His overall demeanor is really sweet and relaxed, he just seems shutdown, and I think he would be a great dog once he comes out of his shell. He was quite calm and easy to walk, although his foster says he pulls when he sees other people or dogs. In the shelter he did well meeting other dogs so another dog in the house would be fine. Unsure about cats. Timmy would do best in a home where he is not left alone for long hours and he gets the training and exercise he needs. Older kids would be a better fit for him as he will jump up if excited and startles easily with sudden movements. Medical: Timmy is healthy but dealing with some hot spots and potential ear infection. He is up to date on vaccines and neutered. He will be going in for a wellness check and heartworm test.
