About Bucky
Bucky (also known as Buckaroo or The Bucking Bronco) is a young, neutered male Australian Cattle Dog with a knack for adventure and a story to tell. After surviving on his own for several weeks in North Carolina, Bucky found his way to safety thanks to some kind neighbors. Since joining foster care, he’s adjusted quickly to human company and household life. He loves toys, food, and the company of other dogs, often joining in on games of fetch or frisbee. Bucky is impressively quick to learn. He’s mastered cues like sit, down, wait at doors, stay, and even drop the toy. Heel and recall are coming along well. Crate training was a breeze for him, and he now settles in comfortably. He’s social with both male and female dogs, showing a playful spirit and a thicker skin when older dogs give corrections, though he sometimes takes a little coaxing to calm down for less enthusiastic playmates. Like many cattle dogs, Bucky can take some time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he’s loyal and affectionate. Given his breed’s smarts and energy, Bucky will do best with an experienced Australian Cattle Dog owner who appreciates his drive and is ready for fun—and a little patience as he continues to settle in. He’d thrive in a home with or without other dogs. Ready to see how far this boy can go? Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
