This 7-month-old mixed breed pup has already been through more than his fair share—but you’d never know it from his joyful, goofy personality. Ernie was found in Louisiana tied outside without food or water, abandoned by his previous owners. Thankfully, a kind person stepped in to help, getting him safely to a rescue. From there, we were able to bring him here so he could find the loving home he truly deserves. Ernie is likely going to be a large dog when he’s fully grown, and right now he’s all legs, big paws, and pure, uncoordinated charm. He hasn’t quite grown into himself yet, which only adds to his total goofball appeal. His silly antics and happy-go-lucky spirit are guaranteed to make you smile every single day. Like most puppies, Ernie loves to play. Whether he’s romping around outside with other dogs or entertaining himself (and everyone around him) with a toy, he’s always ready for fun. He’s a total toy enthusiast—you’ll often find him proudly carrying one around, shaking it with enthusiasm, or rolling on the floor in pure puppy bliss. He’s also happy to share and will gladly invite you into a game of tug or a playful round of keep-away. Ernie has never met a stranger. He absolutely adores people and greets everyone like a long-lost best friend—with a wagging tail and the occasional enthusiastic face lick. His one little quirk? When he gets extra excited, he sometimes forgets his manners and may jump up to say hello. With a little continued training (and some tasty treats—he’s very food-motivated!), he’ll pick that up in no time. The good news is, Ernie already has a great foundation. He appears to be both potty-trained and crate-trained, and he does well with other dogs, cats, and kids. Ernie would thrive in just about any home ready to welcome a playful, affectionate pup who loves with his whole heart.
