Weighing in at around 46 pounds, this sweet and gentle girl will soon be making her journey to Oregon from our incredible rescue partners in Baja California Sur, Mexico-and she's ready to find the loving home she's always deserved. Petra is everything you could hope for in a companion. She's incredibly friendly and social, doing wonderfully with people, kids, and other dogs. She has a calm, easygoing nature and isn't high energy, making her a great match for a variety of households. She's also eager to please, which makes her a joy to spend time with and continue building a bond through training and everyday life. We're told Petra is already crate trained, leash trained, and potty trained-an amazing foundation that will help her transition smoothly into her forever home. While she has seen cats through a window and hasn't shown interest in chasing, we always recommend slow, thoughtful introductions and appropriate precautions when introducing her to feline friends. Petra's journey hasn't been an easy one. She was found on the streets dragging a severely injured back leg, likely the result of being hit by a car-something that far too many street dogs endure. Once in the care of our rescue partners, it was determined that amputation was the best option for her comfort and long-term health. Today, her surgery site has healed beautifully, and she's thriving as a happy, healthy tripod. Missing a leg doesn't slow Petra down one bit-she moves through life with resilience, grace, and a wagging tail.
