Australian Cattle Dogs, also known as Blue Heelers, are tough, intelligent herding dogs bred to drive cattle across the rugged Australian outback. They are incredibly loyal and form a deep bond with their primary person. Their blue or red speckled coat and alert expression reflect their working heritage.

Adopting an Australian Cattle Dog means gaining a devoted, energetic partner who excels at learning and working. They need a job to do and thrive with active owners who can channel their boundless energy into constructive activities.

Severe thunderstorms and occasional tornado watches are a real concern from March through May. Have a pet-safe shelter plan and ensure your pet is microchipped with current contact information. Between storms, the warming days are wonderful for exploring Forest Park’s trails and open spaces.

Jun – Aug

Hot and humid conditions with heat indices often exceeding 100°F make summer challenging for outdoor pet activities. Limit exercise to early morning or late evening, and always carry water. The Gateway Arch grounds and Forest Park offer shaded areas, but avoid prolonged sun exposure.
