About Birdie

Cat presented for lameness and congestion. On exam, BAR-H, BCS 4/9 with mild upper respiratory signs (nasal discharge). Noted to have mild lameness of the left pelvic limb with intermittent knuckling and delayed to absent CP. Radiographs consistent with chronic healed pelvic fractures, including pelvic canal narrowing and remodeling of the left hip. Neurologic deficits in the limb are suspected to be secondary to prior trauma. Improvement in limb use noted on recheck; currently weight-bearing and using limb functionally, so amputation not pursued at this time. Cat may have chronic lameness and requires monitoring for constipation/obstipation due to narrowed pelvic canal. URI signs may persist and require supportive care. Seeking rescue or committed adopter able to monitor mobility, defecation, and provide follow-up care as needed.
