About Hunter
Hunter is hoping for a fresh start after coming from harsh neglect and a difficult hoarding situation. He lived with 18 other dogs, often going without reliable food or water, which has shaped his cautious personality and made him resource-guard with other dogs. The adjustment to shelter life wasn’t easy for Hunter, but with time and patience, he’s begun to show his real self—a goofy, loving dog with a strong affection for those who earn his trust. He adores enrichment activities, especially puzzle toys that challenge his sharp mind. At 7 years old, Hunter still has plenty of energy. He loves long walks, outdoor adventures, and is always up for exploring new smells. Volunteers who’ve spent time with Hunter describe him as gentle once he’s comfortable, a fan of snuggling on the couch, and quick to show affection with kisses. He travels well in the car, enjoys treats (especially waffles), and responds to basic commands. Hunter isn’t interested in toys right away but settles in well to new environments when given room to decompress. He’ll need an adopter who can go slowly, avoid chaotic settings, and understand that he’s best in a home without young kids. With the right person, Hunter will become a steadfast companion who thrives on love, structure, and the security he didn’t have in his early life. Ready to fall in love?
