AvailableAbout Tonka
Tonka appeared at one of the colonies. He walked up to the caretaker and meowed for food. He was there the following day and the day after. Then he disappeared for over one week. The caretaker searched for him for days to no avail. Then one morning he was there and he was so friendly, we just picked him up and placed him in a crate and took him back to our office. We determined that the other colony cats were intimidating him and he was keeping his distance. This colony is in a remote location, and it is unlikely he could have made his way there as the location is surrounded by freeways and no residences anywhere close by. The property owner has only ever seen the cats that have either been there for years or cats born there. He, nor the other people working there, had ever seen Tonka and believed that he was probably dumped. We checked the lost and found databases but there were no reports. And he looked like a cat that had been on his own for quite some time. He was on the thinner side, not neutered, ear mites and ear infection, fleas (during freezing weather), scabbing, and parasites. It goes without saying that Tonka is handsome and all of the volunteers were taken with his stature and good looks. Especially those CHEEKS!! One volunteer kept insisting that he had a tumor or an abscess inside his cheeks, which of course was INCORRECT. Those are the cheeks of an adult male that was not neutered, but he is now. Tonka is very friendly and immediately got along with the other office cats. He has a peaceful disposition, and they accepted him without question. However, when a cat would hiss or swat at him, Tonka would "turn the other fat cheek" Haha. He is quiet although at first he was very local when he was separated from the other cats during the quarantine period. And he was able to get out of the room he was in so he's also smart. Tonka would do well in a home with other cats. He seems scared of dogs when he's heard them bark, and since he's been an outside cat, his new home should be one without children as they can open the door and let him out. He has excellent house manners and really enjoys the catio, so if you have a patio or catio, that would be great for him. He's a clean plater and LOVES napping. He does not enjoy kissing, but we kiss him anyways. Tonka is estimated to be 6-7 years old. He is a big boy weighing around 15 pounds.
