About Demi
Everyone mourns differently 😞 Demi was devastated when her owner passed away and animal control came to remove her and her brother/husband/both? 🤢 Danny from guarding her body. While Danny became extra needy and affectionate looking for someone to latch onto, Demi was angry at the world (and Danny) and lashing out at those trying to help her. After a rough week, she finally opened up to us and is accepting some comfort, though still a nervous anxious girl. It seemed her relationship with Danny wasn’t a happy one, but she’s been getting along with most other dogs as long as fed separately (she never learned that sharing is caring and tend to protective her food and bones and prefers to enjoy them privately). Her vet visit was quite violent and stressful for Demi and the human staff, and she’s not the type that strangers can just pick up and cuddle, but does warm up given some time and space. She’s been spayed (definitely had multiple litters of puppies in the past;(), updated on shots and is medically in pretty good shape and ready for a home. The right home. Adults only please that understand Min Pins and their quirks and protective loyal nature. She’s a bigger girl, was too fat at over 20lbs but slimming down after a freaked out hunger strike and should be around 17-18lbs. We think she’s about 6-8 years old but hard to tell and since there were no relatives that stepped forward we weren’t able to get any other info. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Demi in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
