About Nala
Nala is searching for a foster-to-adopt home. She is about 2.5 years old, a long-coated, large mixed-breed German Shepherd Dog who spent the first part of her life outdoors, never knowing the comfort of couches or the safety of a home. Nala isn’t the one barking or bouncing; she watches, learns, and gathers courage in small ways every day. Her first weeks at Haven were tough—almost everything frightened her—but bit by bit, she’s building trust. Now, she will take food from gentle hands and lean in for soft pets, loving particularly the calming strokes of a brush. Nala still prefers to go outside by her own choice and is working on her comfort with leashes. She needs a securely fenced yard—at least 6 feet high—so she can come and go safely. Her kennel is her main safe spot, so a calm home with a quiet room or a retreat of her own would help her thrive. She connects deepest with patient people who understand bravery sometimes means just trying. She is house trained, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. Her ideal home is calm, adult-only, and cat-free. She might be okay with a very mellow, respectful dog, but peace and slow introductions are musts. Fostering is free; what she needs is someone willing to let her move at her own pace and discover what true belonging feels like. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
