About Simon

Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Say hello to Simon, a big-hearted German Shepherd mix who's ready to find a home where he can truly relax. Simon loves lounging on the couch, soaking up pets, and spending quality time with his people. He is house trained—while he may mark a new place once or twice, he settles in quickly. Because Simon cannot be crated and doesn’t do well being confined to a room, he needs someone who's home most of the time until he’s comfortable with his new surroundings. Simon plays well with other dogs, although he can show a little food dominance, so mindful meal times are best. He doesn’t play fetch, but he enjoys chewing toys and showing his playful, paw-thowing side. For the most part, Simon is a laid-back dog without a strong prey drive and hasn't shown interest in other small animals like chickens or goats. Currently, Simon is undergoing heartworm treatment and will need to avoid long walks or hikes for six to eight months after his treatment. He prefers staying at home and isn’t excited to leave the house, and is still working on being comfortable with his collar being grabbed. Simon has been gentle with children as young as eight, but due to his size and playful style, a home with older kids is best to prevent accidental bumps. Simon's adoption fee is $390.00. He comes microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and is already neutered. As a Cancer (born July 10), Simon tends to be loyal and affectionate—perfect for someone looking for a dedicated companion. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
