About Rufus
Meet Rufus — a soulful sweetheart with a touch of elegance. Rufus has the heart of a poet and the looks of a work of art. One glance into his eyes and you'll see he's a deep thinker with plenty of opinions. At times, you might mistake him for a cozy throw rug or decorative pillow—but that's just Rufus lounging in his favorite spot. This fluffy, sensitive boy has the softest purr and a gentle spirit. He's naturally curious and will happily follow you around to see what you're up to. While he can be a bit timid at first, once he feels safe and settled, Rufus truly shines. He enjoys head rubs, full-body massages, and playtime with feather wand toys. Rufus gets along well with other cats, though dominant older tomcats may intimidate him. His ideal companion is a calm, gentle dog, and he does well with respectful older children. With his luxurious coat, Rufus will need regular brushing to keep him looking and feeling his best. He enjoys both wet and dry food, and a little treat of meat or fish will always win his heart. Rufus's story hasn't been an easy one. He originally showed up as a stray at a duplex community for elderly residents who cared for him deeply. About a year later, he was clipped by a car on a busy road and taken into foster care. As a result, Rufus has a permanent hop due to a soft tissue injury in his front right leg—but it doesn't slow him down or take away his joy for life. If Rufus sounds like the perfect match for your home, you'll gain a loyal, loving companion who's always happy to relax by your side. All of the Sweet Paws animals are loved a great deal by their rescuers, fosters, and the volunteers who've cared for them along the way. Your kitten will be up to date on appropriate vaccinations by adoption day, but please keep in mind that kittens require multiple routine vet visits throughout the course of their first year. Sweet Paws is staffed by volunteers, and processing applications is time intensive; therefore, we ask that you only submit an application if you are fully committed to adopting.
