About Trevor
Meet Trevor! 🐾 Trevor is a 2–3 year old, 12-pound poodle mix with a heart as big as his adorable smile. This incredibly sweet boy came from a difficult beginning—he was turned into a kill shelter along with several other poodles to be euthanized. Thankfully, **Joyrides Rescue** stepped in and welcomed Trevor into their program, giving him the second chance he truly deserves. Trevor was born with **Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)**, a neurological condition that makes him a bit wobbly and clumsy. But don’t let that fool you—Trevor is just as happy and full of life as any other dog! In fact, he’s an amazing ambassador for CH dogs. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with his joyful spirit and sweet personality. Want to learn more about living with a pet with CH? Trevor loves being part of a family and gets along wonderfully with other small dogs but probably would prefer to be an only dog! His favorite activities include going for walks, watching TV, following his foster mom around the house, and snoozing peacefully while you work. He’s curious, affectionate, and extremely friendly with everyone he meets. His foster family has learned alot by fostering a CH dog and provided some helpful insights about Trevor's perfect home: * An elevated food and water bowl helps him eat comfortably. * Trevor would do best in a home with a yard where he can safely run and play and explore! * He absolutely loves lounging on the couch, but should be carefully supervised while up there. * He LOVES toys so a full toy basket for him to empty out is a must! * We've bought Trevor a wheelchair so that he can take walks safely without repeatedly falling on pavement - and he is happy as can be to have this mobility aid. His wheelchair is strictly to keep him from falling and NOT because he is not able to stand or walk. It will be provided to his new family free of charge. * Trevor has a strong prey drive so would do best in a home without cats. * Dogs can react differently to Trevor because of his unfamiliar gait and disability. So if you have other dogs, it's important that they are laid back and patient. * Trevor is a velcro dog and always follows us around, albeit clumsily. Therefore, he would not be a great candidate for a household where there are family members who are high-risk for falling. * Trevor is very affectionate and loves to rest his head on your leg while watching TV or working, it's incredibly sweet! * Because Trevor can't control his falling, he would not be a candidate for a home with much smaller or more fragile dogs that he could fall on or bump into. * Most importantly - Trevor is a NORMAL dog on the inside, he loves his family, toys, snacks, and being part of a family! Trevor may be a little wobbly, but his happiness, resilience, and love for life make him truly special. He is looking for a patient, loving forever family who will appreciate his unique charm and give him the safe, cozy home he deserves. Trevor is currently being fostered in **Houston, TX** and is available for adoption locally or in the Northeast. If adoptedo out of state, he would come to his new home via professional transport.
