About Annie

Annie is a petite young mix of Shih Tzu and Chiweenie, about three months old and just starting to find her confidence. She’s house trained on wee wee pads and walks well on a leash after some gentle patience. Annie spent her early life in a quiet world with an older person and other small dogs, so new people and places can make her freeze up at first. She isn’t quick to trust, but given time and a calm approach, she’ll start to blossom. She does best around other small, confident dogs—having a companion will help her settle in and learn the ropes of being a dog in a home. Annie hasn't met kids yet, so a home without young children is safest. She isn’t suited to being put straight into a backyard, as she can be a flight risk when frightened. Annie needs someone willing to confine her safely at first, let her adjust at her own pace, and who understands that progress will take time but is well worth it. Annie gets along with cats and other dogs, so she’d do best in a patient home with animal company. She’s fully vaccinated and looking for someone willing to give her the softer, slower start she deserves. Your new best friend is just one click away.

Questions about Annie

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Shih Tzu/Chiweenie mixes like Annie do best in calm, stable homes where they can feel safe and secure. They are well-suited to apartments or houses as long as they have room indoors to relax.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Annie will enjoy access to a yard, but she doesn’t need a lot of outdoor space. Regular supervised walks and play indoors are usually enough for dogs of her size and temperament.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Given Annie's skittish nature, homes with young children might be overwhelming for her. Shih Tzu/Chiweenie mixes generally do fine with older, gentle kids who understand dogs' needs.
