Chewy came back with surprising DNA results: while he looks very much like a Shih Tzu, he's actually a blend of Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu. At 13, Chewy’s a seasoned companion whose medical needs are all squared away. He’s lived in foster care for a while, and while his foster family thought about keeping him, Chewy simply doesn’t get along with the larger family dogs. He would truly thrive as the only dog, or possibly with a smaller, calm canine housemate. His tendency to wander means a fenced yard is essential. He prefers a quieter adult home, as kids and high energy aren’t his style. Chewy has a bit of a cranky streak, so patience is key—he sometimes needs a belly band, as his house manners aren’t consistent, and he wants nothing to do with kennels. Chewy is true to his favorites and tends to attach most strongly to one person—he’s happy on the bed or couch, as close as possible. He enjoys leash walks but is now a low-energy guy, more bothered with napping than playing. He is vigilant, loyal, and has a mild watchdog bark, but also enjoys affection from his chosen humans.
