10 months old | 51 lbs | Neutered Red Heeler / Shepherd mix Comet’s story started at Palm Valley Animal Society, where he arrived as a tiny 3-month-old stray. He has spent almost his entire life navigating the streets and shelter life. He was adopted—but quickly returned and found himself back in the shelter at high risk of euthanasia after chasing chickens and getting a little too interested in farm equipment (yes… tractors included 😅). Let’s be real about Comet… This boy is a working-breed mix through and through. He is not meant for a backyard with nothing to do. He needs structure, activity, and a job—and when he has that, he is going to be an exceptional dog. The good stuff: ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Vaccinated ✔️ Heartworm negative ✔️ Friendly with people ✔️ Great with other dogs ✔️ Walks well on leash ✔️ Responsive to handler cues Comet is active and thrives when he has an outlet, but he also does a great job entertaining himself with toys and enrichment. He’s a sweet, eager-to-please boy who wants guidance and purpose. He has not been around children yet, but he is gentle by nature and may do well with older, respectful kids who understand boundaries and give him space. Comet will do best with an active owner, working environment, or someone who truly understands herding breeds. This is not a “problem dog.” This is a misplaced dog who ended up in the wrong environment. Give him the right outlet, and you’ll see exactly who he’s meant to be.
