About Grizelda

Grizelda is a five-year-old, 75-pound mastiff mix with a sincere fondness for belly rubs, a surprisingly playful zoom, and a sharp mind that enjoys solving puzzles. She’s an outgoing, friendly dog who connects quickly with people and appreciates new faces. Despite her confidence in most areas, Grizelda is a bit head-shy and sensitive to firm voices, so she needs a gentle, patient adopter who's willing to build trust at her pace. Give her a sense of security and she’ll give you loyalty and affection in spades. Grizelda’s ideal environment features both mental and physical enrichment, along with plenty of kindness. She does not have a known history with other dogs, cats, or children but could adjust with respectful introductions and proper management. Be ready to devote a little extra attention to her comfort: she’ll need to return for a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery to address a current orthopedic issue. Gentle exercise and bonding beforehand will help prep her for a smoother recovery—her care team is prepared to guide you through exercises and answer questions about her surgery and rehab. Grizelda’s adoption fee is already covered in memory of Miles of Smiles. Ready for a gentle, devoted companion? Grizelda might just be the answer. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Grizelda

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Grizelda, as a mastiff mix, tends to do well in homes where she has enough room to move around, ideally with a yard or regular access to outdoor space. Large breed dogs like her typically appreciate a stable, quiet setting.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Mastiff mixes such as Grizelda usually need a moderate to large yard to stretch out and play. Regular walks and play sessions are important for her physical and mental health, especially given her size.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Mastiff mixes are often gentle giants and can be good with children, but Grizelda will do best with children who can respect her space and sensitivity. Supervision and careful introductions are a must.
