My name’s Topher, and I figured I’d tell you a little bit about myself. I first wandered into the shelter as a stray back in November of 2023. Since then, I’ve had a couple chances at a home. The first time, I thought I’d struck gold. There was even a cat there! I tried my best to be friendly and play, but the cat didn’t think that was such a great idea… so back I came. The second time, I thought my luck had really turned around. But the dog who already lived there wasn’t too keen on sharing his turf, and before I knew it, I was packing my bags again. Now here I am, back at the shelter in March of 2025. I’m only about two and a half years old, but that’s a lot of my life spent waiting for the right place to land. The funny part is, I’m actually great with dogs. I can wrestle with the rough-and-rowdy crew, chill with the calmer pups, and I even do great in big playgroups with lots of dogs running around. The staff say I can “read the room,” which I think just means I’m a pretty easygoing guy. I’m also friendly with people of all ages, already fixed, and heartworm negative. They say I’m a retriever-hound mix, and maybe just a little thick around the middle… but that just means there’s more of me to love. So today, while everyone’s wishing for pots of gold and lucky four-leaf clovers, I’ve got a different wish. I’m not looking for treasure… I’m looking for a home that appreciates all I have to offer. And if you happen to be looking for a happy, goofy, dog-loving best friend, well… I’ll be right here wagging my tail and hoping the luck of the Irish leads you straight to me! Topher's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN.
