Licorice’s journey began with wide eyes and a worried heart, unsure of the new world around him. Those first days were tough—everything felt overwhelming, and he carried his stress in every careful step. But with time, patient caretakers, and the comfort of routine, Licorice slowly let his guard down. Now, when someone walks by his kennel with a leash in hand, he comes trotting forward with bright enthusiasm, ready for an adventure. During his evaluation he welcomed every gentle touch, leaning in for more affection as if he were making up for lost time. Out in the play yard, Licorice showed his cheerful, fun-loving side. He happily chased toys and just as happily traded them for treats, proving he’s as polite as he is playful. He’s easygoing around his food, too—content to be touched and handled as he eats, though like all dogs, he appreciates having his own space during mealtime. When meeting another dog, Licorice was a mix of curiosity and uncertainty: a little whine here, a cautious sniff there, and even a playful bow when he felt brave. With slow introductions and the right match, he could enjoy canine companionship, but he’ll shine most with humans who appreciate his gentle heart.
