Meet Venus A Beagle Who Deserves a Real Second Chance

Venus's journey hasn't always been easy, but her story is one of resilience, healing, and quiet strength. When she was first rescued, she wasn't feeling her best and arrived in an extreme inflammatory state. True to her namesake, she has emerged from that chapter shining brighter than ever, handling every step of her recovery with remarkable grace. After completing a course of antibiotics to treat an infection in her anal glands and undergoing a procedure to remove two colon polyps, Venus is now well on her way to living a happy, healthy life. With her past health challenges in mind, she thrives on a high-quality, high-fiber, anti-inflammatory diet that supports her continued healing. Under the attentive care of her foster mom, Venus has already slimmed down, her skin irritation has greatly improved, and she grows more vibrant with each passing day.

At five years old, Venus is a mature, grounded companion who has left the chaos of puppyhood behind. She brings a calm, steady presence to the home while still enjoying her daily adventures. Outdoors, she truly comes alive. Every walk is a grand expedition where she can follow her nose and take in the world one scent at a time. She has a curious, focused energy and would be a wonderful match for someone who enjoys long, mindful walks and doesn't mind letting her take the lead now and thenvery much in line with her beagle spirit.

While Venus was raised as an only dog, she has shown that she can be polite and peaceful around other dogs in the right circumstances. That said, because she is still healing and has some lingering sensitivities, a home where rough play is not expected would suit her best. She benefits from a calm, predictable environment where her comfort and well-being are prioritized.

Venus can be a little cautious when meeting new people and isn't shy about expressing herself at first, but she warms up quickly, especially when treats are involved. On leash, she may be reactive to other dogs or people, though this is easily managed with a bit of distance and a steady pace. With gentle guidance and consistency, she continues to grow more confident.

Her ideal home is one that balances activity with relaxation. She would love a family that enjoys daily walks and outdoor time but also appreciates peaceful evenings at home. After a satisfying morning walk, Venus is perfectly content to lounge, nap, and simply be near her people. She does enjoy spending time in a yard, especially on sunny days, so a securely fenced space where she can safely explore would be a wonderful bonus.

Venus has a bit of a history when it comes to sneaking snacks, particularly from little hands, which contributed to her previous weight and health issues. While she is respectful around adults and food in her current foster home, she would do best in a household with older children or adults who can confidently manage boundaries around mealtime.

Above all, Venus is deeply devoted to her humans. She forms strong, loving bonds and thrives in a home where she has plenty of companionship. She prefers not to be left alone for long periods and truly shines when she is part of daily life. Her affectionate nature makes her an absolute joy to be aroundshe adores gentle massages, belly rubs, and any opportunity to be close to her people. Time spent with Venus feels special, filled with warmth and connection.

Now fully graduated from her "wellness retreat," Venus is up to date on all veterinary care. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines, dental care, and bloodwork. She is ready to leave her past behind and start the next chapter of her life with a loving forever family who will cherish her as much as she deserves.
Please visit our website www.beaglerescue.org to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other available dogs.
