About Cochise

Cochise was a 9th-century Chiricahua Apache leader who is remembered for bringing peace to his people. Our sweet gal Cochise is also a big proponent of peace- she dreams of a calm, loving home where she can spend her days peacefully relaxing and being loved by her family. Cochise is a sensitive girl who isn’t cut out for life in a crowded shelter. She spends several days a week at the offsite location of PACC’s rescue partner, Tucson Rescue Now. This is a quieter environment where pups can snooze on couches and schmooze with visitors. Here’s what the TRN staff said: “Cochise arrived at PACC after her person passed. She was pretty shut down (understandably), and shelter life makes her nervous. In her time away from the shelter, she is really beginning to open up! She walks nicely on leash and loves her walks along quiet routes. She is a pleasant walking partner and she rarely pulls. While she’s not big into toys yet, she does enjoy yummy treats and gentle pets. We love to see Cochise smiling and feeling good! She is very obedient and stays right by your side in the play yard. Just this week, we discovered she enjoys trotting along with you if you run back and forth, the length of the play yard. She also jumps up to interact with someone who stops at the play yard walls to watch her. She is an absolute gem, she makes no noise, is gentle and so tolerant. At TRN, she is learning to trust again and she enjoys naps and cuddles next to the people that she feels safe with. She is looking for a calm loving place to call home.” Cochise shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been tolerant and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. If you have a spot in your heart and your home for a pup who needs a soft place to land, please ask about Cochise!
