Millie has jumped more than 4 feet high vertically in her foster home when she’s gotten excited. *COAT TYPE: Curly. Millie’s coat has typically been kept short. She sheds some. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often and have her groomed regularly at cost of $120/grooming session. *ENERGY LEVEL: medium energy level. She enters high energy mode, jumping and demonstrating something close to zoomies when she sees her lead or is going on a car ride. She requires daily exercise and is a Fetch Queen. She will jump up for petting and love from humans but is responding well to the “off” command. *DOGS: Yes! Millie plays positively with and seems to enjoy each of her 3 foster sibling dogs. Her original home reports she did well at doggie day care. *CATS: Millie has not been around cats in her foster home. Her original family reports she did well around 1 cat. *KIDS: Yes! Millie hasn't been around kids in her foster home. In her original home, she was with 2 young children and did well. *CAR: Millie loves car rides. When her foster parents move toward their garage, Millie is right there, wondering if a car ride is coming. *CRATE: Millie is strongly crate trained. She eats in her crate and enters it easily and quickly with the command “kennel” when needed. Millie shows indications of separation anxiety via intermittent howling while in the crate, especially if she can see or hear her foster siblings and/or foster parents. *HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! Millie is house trained. She gets her foster parents up if she needs to go out overnight. When she first arrived to her foster home, she was drinking alot of water and had several accidents before getting into the habit of letting them know her need to go outside to potty at night. Her first morning urine test was normal, showing no need for medication or further testing. Her water drinking is returning to more normal levels, and her overnight outs are diminishing as she settles in with her foster family. We think the excessive drinking of water was likely due to the transition to her foster home; her new family should give her time to settle in their new routine. *LEASH: Millie starts out on the end of her leash due to her walking adventure excitement but with exertion, allows slack back into the lead. She is startled by noise of the wind moving flags on a flagpole on walks but otherwise very interested in and curious about her walking environment. *HOW IS SHE AT THE VET: Millie is initially curious about her vet team but quickly realizes they are there to help and lets them do what is needed. *HOW IS SHE WITH GROOMING: Her original family reports she did well with grooming, loving the snuggles and pets she gets. 🐾 Meet Magnificent Millie! 🐾 Millie’s tail is in continual motion, a sign of her overall happiness and readiness to connect to her forever family! Her former family clearly loved her very much and took excellent care of her until their circumstances changed. Millie’s sweet and curious personality makes will make her a positive addition to any pack of any size. She likes to cuddle close to her foster mom in an oversized chair she reads in. Millie loves baby carrots and will keep returning to the fridge for another carrot. She knows sit, shake and lay down well. She also enjoys ice cubes, scrambled eggs and water splashed on her dry food. Millie’s recall is quite strong, and she is exceedingly food motivated, making her a great candidate for further training! Millie’s ideal home will be one where her humans are able to commit the needed time, focus and attention to help her settle in. She likes to be physically close to her humans and any dogs in the home as often as possible. Her energy level settles after proper daily mental and physical stimulation. Once Millie settles in, she will love to go on car ride adventures with her forever family! Millie loves to run in her foster family’s fenced yard. She will play fetch for as long as you engage with her on it. Walks help manage her energy. Millie would love a fenced in yard as she loves to fetch, jumps high and would be curious enough to explore if there wasn't a fence. She loves to snuggle once she settles down a little bit after proper exercise. Millie would do well as a single dog or with another dog(s). Millie’s original family reports she was comfortably crated for up to 8 hours at a time. At her foster home, she’s been comfortably crated for up to 4 hours at a time. Millie demonstrates some separation anxiety via howling when in her kennel if she can see and/or hear the humans and dogs in her foster home. Millie is noted to have corneal dystrophy. The vet is not concerned, and explained that this the equivalent of having a smudge on glasses from her vision point of view. Her foster family has not noticed any impact to her vision. She is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives. ADOPTION FEE: $500 ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION: Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
