About Maple

Meet Maple! Maple is a sweet, senior Belgian Malinois, approximately 8 to 9 years old, with a gentle and sensitive soul. She can be very timid and shy around new people, likely due to a history of limited positive interactions with humans. Maple needs a calm, patient adopter who will allow her to move at her own pace and build trust on her terms. Once she feels safe, she enjoys peaceful walks and rolling in thick green grass. Unlike many Malinois, Maple is medium to low energy and prefers to keep to herself rather than engage in nonstop activity. She has been introduced to other dogs and does best with calm, respectful companions. She may correct overly pushy or high-energy dogs and can show mild leash or fence reactivity, but responds well to consistent verbal corrections. Maple would thrive with someone experienced with shepherd breeds and structured, consistent training. If introducing another dog, a meet-and-greet is recommended, though she is likely happiest as the only dog in the household. Maple has special needs - she is heartworm positive. Dogs with heartworm disease can live happy, high-quality lives with proper care. Heartworm positive dogs have just as much love and companionship to offer as any other dog and deserve a chance at a forever home! By adopting Maple, you are truly saving a life. Ask staff about the Stormie Rain Heartworm Fund and what assistance may be available to help with her heartworm treatment. Maple is ready to find a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, cared for, and truly cherished. ADOPTION PROCESS: Our adoption process is simple and straightforward. Start by completing our pre-screening application: https://tinyurl.com/adoptfromHSCC Applications are typically approved or declined the same day. Once approved and all parties agree, adoption fees are paid and the contract is signed. If the pet is not yet spayed/neutered or current on a rabies vaccine, they will not go home the same day. An appointment will be scheduled, and you'll receive further instructions at that time. We hope this helps answer your questions!
