Meet Rocky! Rocky is a handsome, 1 year old, 64lb Doberman Pinscher with a gentle heart who found himself in need of a second chance through no fault of his own. Originally owned by an elderly individual who realized they could not keep up with the needs of a young, active dog, Rocky was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter. The loud, chaotic environment quickly became overwhelming for him, and the shelter reached out for rescue support to give him a better opportunity to thrive. Rocky is a sweet, sensitive boy who may come across as hesitant or nervous when first meeting new people or experiencing new situations. His world was once very small, with limited socialization outside of his previous home. However, once he begins to feel safe and builds trust, his affectionate and loving personality truly shines. He will seek out attention and enjoys being close to his people. He is a well-mannered boy who is eager to please and ready to learn. Rocky did not receive much leash training in his previous home, so he will benefit from continued guidance and patience. A home with a physical fenced yard would be ideal for him while he builds confidence, along with a family willing to help him slowly adjust to leash walking and new experiences. Rocky has recently started meeting other dogs for the first time. While he was initially unsure, especially around more energetic, outgoing dogs, he is beginning to engage and show interest in play. He would likely do best with dogs that have a balanced, calmer energy. He has not yet been introduced to cats. Due to his size and gentle but sometimes unsure nature, Rocky would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with him. Rocky is looking for an active, patient family that understands the needs of a larger dog and is committed to helping him grow into a confident, well-rounded companion. With time, consistency, and love, Rocky is going to be an incredibly loyal and rewarding addition to the right home.
