Benji is a 1-year-old, 15-pound male Terrier mix - maybe a little Westie, maybe Yorkie (hello terrier drive & focus), maybe even a touch of Maltese (he may be wire-haired, but he's white!). What we do know? This kid is ALL terrier - smart, intense, driven, and full of personality. If I were trying to tug at your heartstrings just to find him a home... any home... I'd tell you that you would be his 5th (maybe even 6th, if we count where he was born) home - and he just turned one. But let's not focus on that. Let's focus on HIM and what he truly needs. Here's the reality: Terriers come with tenacity. They are alert, intelligent, and incredibly focused - sometimes too focused. Small animals, movement, other dogs... they can become hyper-fixated, and learning when and how to turn that off doesn't always come naturally. This isn't a flaw - it's what they were bred to do. Benji needs someone who understands the terrier mind - someone who can appreciate his drive while helping him learn balance through structure, guidance, and consistency. Because no one has truly committed to Benji yet, he comes with a few quirks and is working through some separation anxiety. His most favorite place to be? Right next to you. Wherever you are. Always. Benji also has a big voice, so apartment living wouldn't be ideal (your neighbors would agree ). He still needs work with leash training, so a secure, fenced yard would give him a safe space to practice, build confidence, and allow for easier access to continue working on housetraining - while neighborhood walks will be ideal for his socialization. Because of his intense, all-in personality, Benji can become quite jealous when affection is given to another pet. For that reason, he would do best as the only pet in the home, where he can fully settle in without feeling the need to compete for attention. Benji is adorable, sweet, intense, and driven - and in the right home, he is going to absolutely shine. Whether it's training sessions, structured walks, or learning how to just be, Benji is ready to do life with his person. He doesn't need just any home - he needs his person.
