Zuma (A141198) is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees who weighed 78.7 pounds on intake but is underweight. 04/07/26 Zuma is back and looking for his new home! He was returned due to no fault of his own, but because the other dogs always wanted to play and would pull on Zuma's tail if he did not oblige. This did result in Zuma losing fur on his rump and tail. Through this all, Zuma never got grumpy, but his owner did feel it was in his best interest to rehome him. While in their care, Zuma was said to do well with children and to LOVE women! He can be a little shy around men (especially tall men) and appreciated when they got to his level for introductions. Zuma was known to jump up and give hugs. He was also known to dig outdoors and is not fully housebroken. He is looking for an owner who can continue to work with him. Zuma also is not a fan of car rides and the blow dryer. We encourage his next owner to discuss with their vet on ways to help him feel most at ease for car rides and grooming appointments. They have been outdoor dogs, so they will need help adjusting to indoor living. This includes potty training and basic commands. They were both described as outgoing, friendly, and affectionate boys. They have historically done well with babies and children. They have not met many strangers in their lives, but warmed up to care staff quickly on arrival at the shelter. If you are unfamiliar with their breed, we encourage you to do your research before adopting. These boys were said to get along smashingly well with each other, but haven’t met any animals outside their home. Please ensure you are making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new people and animals to help set them up for success. They are young boys looking for some continued guidance as they age. They arrived at the shelter with matted coats; needing regular grooming is to be expected.
