About Brewer Mickey
Brewer Mickey is back with our rescue, through no fault of his own. You see, Brewer found the perfect family 10 years ago when he was a 2 year old youngster. He was loved and cared for, and shared a special bond with his humans. They renamed him “Bizzy” and went above and beyond for him, making him an important part of their family. In return, Bizzy brought them joy, comfort and something to nurture. Unfortunately Bizzy’s parents’ health declined with age, but through it all Bizzy stayed loyal by their sides. Sadly, Bizzy lost not just one parent, but eventually both. Bizzy found himself in the care of family members who cherished and loved him deeply, however they recognized they just didn’t have the undivided love and attention he needs and deserves as he himself enters his golden years. So Brewer AKA Bizzy came back, hoping to find a new family that will love him for the rest of his life. Fortunately for him, he’s already being loved by his foster family! Bizzy is 12 years old and a standard dachshund. But don’t be fooled by his age, he still has a lot of spunk left in him. He loves toys and can entertain himself for hours, throwing balls in the air and chasing them. He has a shoe fetish (not destroying them) and even has an emotional support shoe he brings to bed when he wants to cuddle. He knows what he wants and is very good at communicating it, some would say he’s bossy but foster momma likes to think he’s “assertive.” He will let you know when he needs pets or a treat, or even when it’s time for you to stop everything you’re doing and chill on the couch with him. He enjoys leisure walks and the company of other dogs who can match his calm energy; also likes to follow foster mom around but he’s not clingy and sleeps great in his doggy bed at night. He is housebroken. We are still getting to know Bizzy and he will be seeing our vet soon to evaluate his cataracts and possible hearing loss. But in the meantime we can anticipate he will need a calm environment and adopters who understand the canine aging process and his progressive vision loss. A home with other calm dogs that can help show him the ropes and where he’d never be completely alone would be ideal. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.
