This charming little guy is equal parts playful companion and snuggly sidekick, with a personality that shines brightest when he’s close to his favorite human. He’s the kind of dog who will make you feel chosen every single day. Daily Routine Caddie starts his day when his person wakes up. He sleeps soundly through the night in his crate in the bedroom and is comfortable there as long as he knows his human is nearby. In the morning, he heads out for a walk to take care of business and stretch his legs. He enjoys getting his day started with some fresh air and movement. Mealtime took a little creativity at first, as Caddie prefers not to eat from deep bowls. Once his foster discovered that he enjoys meals served on a shallow plate or mat, he settled into a consistent breakfast and dinner routine. He’s now eating reliably and looks forward to his meals. During the workday, Caddie relaxes in a playpen with the two other small dogs in the home. While he may voice a few initial complaints when his person leaves, he settles in and spends the day resting and observing his surroundings. When his person returns home, he greets them with joyful enthusiasm, followed by an evening walk, dinner, and cozy downtime. On weekends or work-from-home days, he happily wanders around the living room, keeping close to his people and canine friends. At bedtime, Caddie willingly trots into his crate, especially when it’s turned into a fun little game with treats. He’s learning cues like “sleepy time” and “go to your room,” and he sleeps peacefully through the night. Personality Caddie is deeply loyal and forms strong bonds with his person. From the moment he arrived in his foster home, he attached himself to his human and has remained a devoted companion ever since. He loves physical closeness and will happily position himself right at your feet while you cook, work, or relax. If you’re sitting down, he’s likely to be nearby— or better yet, touching you. He is affectionate, cuddly, and always ready to give kisses. One of his most endearing habits is dramatically rolling onto his back the second he senses a chance for belly rubs. It’s a performance worthy of applause every time. With new people, Caddie can feel overwhelmed at first and may bark when visitors arrive. With patience, structure, and continued positive socialization, he is learning that new people can be safe and predictable. He does best when given space to settle and observe at his own pace. He also shows a tendency to be protective of his person when being held, so his foster family is helping him build confidence and practice calm behaviors around others. The good news is that he does not guard food or toys, and he is making steady progress with guidance. Social Life Caddie truly enjoys the company of other dogs. He lives with two small dogs and quickly learned to respect the boundaries of the resident senior dog, while forming a playful friendship with the younger one. When introduced to a friendly medium-sized dog at a social gathering, he jumped right into play mode and spent the evening happily wrestling, running, and exploring. When he first arrived at DPS, there was another (medium sized) dog present, and he and Caddie were instant besties who spent two hours playing non-stop! Because he enjoys canine companionship so much, Caddie would likely thrive in a home with another playful dog. He also may enjoy activities like doggy daycare or regular playdates where he can burn off energy and socialize. He has met a calm, respectful 7-year-old child and remained comfortable in that setting, though he did not actively seek interaction. As with many dogs, gentle and dog-savvy children would be the best match. He may need time to adjust, so giving him both space and treats will be key. On walks, he shows curiosity about neighborhood cats and may attempt to chase, so careful introductions would be important in a home with felines. Energy and Play Style Caddie is a playful, energetic young dog who loves toys, games, and bursts of activity. He enjoys chasing toys and proudly carrying them around, sometimes even bringing them along on walks. Socks are a particular treasure if left unattended. Despite his playful nature, he also has a wonderfully snuggly side and is perfectly happy to curl up on the couch for a quiet evening. He strikes a lovely balance between active fun and cozy companionship. Leash Skills Caddie walks beautifully on leash during one-on-one outings. He tends to stay close to his person, listens well, and responds to interaction. Home Life Caddie is crate-trained, comfortable in a playpen, and respectful of household items. He enjoys chewing on toys but has not shown interest in destructive chewing. Like many alert little dogs, Caddie will enthusiastically join in when the household dogs bark at outside noises or when guests arrive. Why You’ll Love Caddie Caddie is the definition of a best friend in the making. He is loyal, affectionate, funny, and full of personality. His dramatic belly-rub performances alone are enough to make anyone smile, and his devotion to his person is truly special. He’s a playful little companion who can keep up with adventures during the day and transform into the ultimate cuddle buddy at night. For the right family, Caddie won’t just be a pet— he’ll be a constant, loving presence by your side.
