About Smoky
Smoky, also called Elsa, is a Whippet and Labrador Retriever mix with a story that puts her in need of a second chance. She’s energetic and exceptionally fast—her speed stands out, even among Labs. Smoky loves to run and fetch tennis balls, and she’s eager to show off her “sit” and “shake” commands. She’s house trained and has done well with her foster family's medium and large dogs, though she’s shown some aggression toward small dogs. Patience is key: she remains skittish and suspicious of new people or situations, but once she trusts you, she becomes devoted and wants to be involved in everything you do. Smoky has also spent time as a “shop dog” and has slowly gotten comfortable with new people through gentle handling and treats. She’s happiest with another dog for company, but will also thrive as your only pet as long as you offer patience and steady companionship. Smoky adores children and leans on routine and gentle encouragement. If you’re looking to help a smart, loyal dog flourish, Smoky will reward you with dedication.
