About Zuma
Start your journey together! Apply now. Zoom, zoom, Zuma! This exceptionally sweet and gentle Basset Hound is searching for more than just a spot to call home; he’s longing for a lap to snuggle on—even if he doesn’t realize he weighs a solid 60 pounds! Zuma is a 4 1/2-year-old male from Sturbridge, MA with an irresistibly goofy personality and a famously smooshable face. With a wonderful disposition coming from a lineage of devoted Basset lovers, Zuma has grown up with both people and children, always displaying kindness and affection. He thrives outdoors, so a fenced yard would make him happiest, and he’s shown he loves to play with other Bassets—but prefers to avoid sharing space or items with his littermate brother. Typically, Zuma’s resource guarding is manageable, focusing only on toys or things he shouldn’t have, and his training helps him trade up and follow cues like "drop it" and "leave it." He’s proven low maintenance, shines as an "only" pet, and does well in controlled situations with other dogs, though meeting new canines should always happen gradually. For Zuma’s next home, older children who respect canine boundaries will be ideal, and Zuma’s future family will appreciate his loving, loyal nature. Described as the sweetest Basset out of a pack of nine, he’s ready to meet someone special. As part of a home-to-home adoption, Zuma arrives neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and in good health. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
