Momo is a male cat who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR) with severe ocular disease affecting the right eye (OD), including a descemetocele and mucoid discharge. This condition indicates a deep corneal ulcer that has progressed to a critical stage and poses a significant risk of rupture, pain, and infection. Due to the severity of the injury and poor prognosis for vision in the affected eye, enucleation (surgical removal of the eye) is recommended to relieve pain and prevent further complications. This procedure, along with the necessary post-operative care, exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Momo is not socialized and is fearful of handling, which adds an additional challenge to his care and recovery. Despite this, he is receiving supportive care and monitoring. He would benefit from placement with an experienced caregiver or rescue group that can provide a low-stress environment, appropriate handling, and the surgical intervention he urgently needs. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical and behavioral care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
