He was adopted from a local shelter on 7/3/25, surrendered on 8/22/25, adopted again on 9/13/26, and returned on 3/26/26 in poor condition. Despite all of this, Cole remains a gentle, quirky, deeply loyal little dog who wants nothing more than a safe, predictable home where he can finally settle and OFR is here to help him find his forever. Cole is thriving in his foster home. He is fully potty trained, and sleeps soundly through the night curled up beside his foster. He enjoys curling up in a warm lap, snuggling in bed, and spending quiet time in the yard with the resident dogs. Indoors, he prefers a calm environment and moves through life at his own Cole slooow, steady pace — something his foster describes as “little old man energy” that brings a smile to her face every day. Cole communicates clearly when he needs something, either by barking or gently pawing. He does well on leash and gets excited when it’s time to go out, sometimes play‑mouthing from enthusiasm. He sleeps through storms but dislikes going outside in the rain. Because of his history and sensitivity, Cole needs an adopter who understands his boundaries. He may bark or growl at people or dogs passing by the home, and he may nip if startled or pushed away. His foster is working with him on these behaviors, and he responds well to patience, structure, and respect for his space. Cole will do best in a calm, consistent environment with someone who can offer reassurance, routine, and understanding. He is not a dog who thrives with chaos or frequent change.
