Meet Nessa! Nessa is a petite, one-year-old Chiweenie mix with a big personality packed into a small 10 pound frame. This resilient little lady came to rescue after being hit by a car and suffering three pelvic fractures, including one that required surgery, but don’t worry, she’s now fully healed, feeling great, and ready to start her next chapter! Nessa is the definition of a “my person” dog. She bonds deeply with her human and is happiest when she can spend her energy with you, not other dogs. She’s playful, high-energy, and fun, but her idea of playtime are walks, adventures, and quality time with her favorite person, not romping with dog friends. Like many small dogs, Nessa is confident, opinionated, and likes to make her rules very clear. She does okay around other dogs who are calm, respectful, and willing to completely ignore her existence. Dogs with puppy energy or dogs that don’t listen when she says “no thanks” are not her jam. Because of this, Nessa would truly shine as an only dog but could live with the right lowkey canine companion. Nessa can be a little protective of her person, especially when she’s snuggled in a lap, and she’ll need an adopter who understands this and is comfortable continuing gentle, consistent guidance. She does well with cats around the house, as long as they give her space (lap time is sacred, after all!). Nessa is potty trained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash and is all around a loyal, affectionate and devoted canine companion to her human. Nessa is best suited for an adult home (no small children as she can be a little snappy if her boundaries aren’t respected), as well as a home with calm, respectful pets, where she can be someone’s cherished sidekick, not part of a doggy playgroup.
