About Penelope
Make their next chapter their best one yet. Penelope is an irresistible Dachshund/Pug mix with a beautiful black and brown brindle coat and a heart full of love. At just around ten months old and about 14 pounds, she’s still very much a playful puppy who adores romping, wrestling, and snuggling with her sister. Penelope would flourish in a home that already has a playful, young canine companion, and she needs a securely fenced yard where she can safely play and take care of business. She is currently excelling with her housetraining and sleeps contentedly in her crate each night, making her an ideal addition for someone seeking a well-adjusted, crate-trained companion. Though a little shy when first meeting new people, Penelope quickly comes out of her shell and delights in giving kisses and lounging by your side. She’s looking for a family where she will have plenty of daytime companionship, making her best suited to a household where someone works from home or for an active retiree with plenty of time and energy to spend with her. Smart and eager to learn, she’s making strides with leash training and loves going for car rides, so she’s always up for an adventure! Penelope is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated—including Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies shots—and tested negative for Heartworms. Her adoption comes with a three-week trial period to ensure she’s the perfect fit for your family, with a full refund if it turns out not to be the right match. While adopters from outside North Carolina are welcome, Penelope’s new family must travel in person to meet and bring her home to ensure a great connection.
