About Penelope
Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Penny and feel that you would be a good match for her, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Penny is an adorable little Dachshund and Pug mix (mom was A Dachshund and dad was a Pug) who was the product of an 'oops litter'. She has a beautiful black and brown brindle, low-maintenance coat. As of 4/2/26, Penny's about 10-months-old and weighs about 14-lbs. She is currently in a foster home with her 'sister', Dottie... also available for adoption. Still being a puppy, she is very active and loves to wrestle, run and play with her sister, so we want to be sure that she will have a young and playful dog for companionship in her forever home. Penny will also need a securely fenced yard where she can play and 'potty' safely. Penny has a doggie door in her foster home and is doing very well on her housetraining, She currently sleeps in a crate at her foster home, without any complaints. Penny is a little shy at first when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for her to feel comfortable. She's a very affectionate little girl, and loves to lay next to you and give kisses. We are looking for a family for Penny where she will have companionship during the day, and will not be left at home alone while the family is at work. Either someone who works from home or a young (under 65) and active retiree would be perfect for this little girl. She's a young and active pup with lots of energy, and though she is not yet well trained to walk on a leash, we are sure it won't take long for her to learn... she's a very smart little girl! Penny rides well in a car, so hopefully she'll be able to go on many adventures with her new family! Penny is current on her Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines and is spayed and microchipped. She tested negative for Heartworms and is on Heartworm prevention. Penny's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Penny is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Penny would be a good match for your family, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ If you are interested in adopting both Penelope and Dottie, one application will suffice for both pups. After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
