About Nugget
Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started. Meet Nugget, a loving and social shepherd/husky mix who joined the shelter in December 2025. Nugget absolutely adores people and has a knack for winning hearts with his affectionate nature—he’ll even rub up against you just like a cat to ask for pets and belly rubs! Though he’s a medium-sized fellow, Nugget is convinced he’d make the perfect lap dog if you’d let him. He can be vocal when meeting new faces, but it’s all excitement and a wish to be friends. Nugget is quite playful with other dogs and enjoys a bit of roughhousing, but when it comes to cats, he’s still learning the ropes and may need a bit more time and understanding. Clever and eager to please, Nugget picks up on training quickly—especially if treats are involved! He’s especially loyal and forms strong bonds with caregivers, so he finds being separated from people a little tough, especially in a shelter setting. He would thrive with an adopter who is home often or can make arrangements for companionship during longer absences. If you visit Nugget, be sure to ask for him by name; he’s so tall that he sometimes has special accommodations to keep him safe and happy, especially if he’s in with his buddy Red to help him relax. Fun fact: Nugget’s birthday is June 8, which makes him a Gemini—playful, curious, and always up for new adventures! Let’s make it official, apply to adopt!
