Coming from the outdoors, he has tested Positive for FIV, a disease affecting his immune system. Sadly, the more cats are being abandoned outdoors, the more common this has become...And much worse. Consult please with your Vet, or good information is also available on various pet medicine websites, but in general, it can compromise their immune system. But with regular check ups and proper nutrition, they can sustain a long, healthy life. And of course, they need to sustain an indoor only home. As transferred through body fluids, the risk to other cats is minimized through spay/neuter, but can be contracted via fighting/wounds, so any FIV positive cat should live alone, or simply with other mild mannered felines where the risk is minimal to those companion cats.
