This beautiful girl came into rescue as a stray, and while we don't know what her past looked like, it's clear she's still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Affectionately nicknamed “Slinky,” Poppe has a charming (and a little heartbreaking) habit of crouching low and slinking away when she's unsure or frightened. But don't let that fool you—her true personality blossoms when she's surrounded by confident, well-balanced dogs. With a canine crew by her side, Poppe transforms into a happier, more relaxed, and even playful pup. She truly thrives as part of a pack and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. Poppe enjoys her walks and has made great progress on leash with confidence-building training. She's also a world-class cuddler once she bonds with her person—she just needs a little time and patience to get there. Poppe's Ideal Home: A home with at least one confident, well-balanced dog (this is a must!) A calm, quiet environment without a lot of chaos or frequent new visitors (this is a must!) Older, respectful children are okay, but a busy, high-traffic home is not the best fit An adopter who understands shy dogs and can gently guide her as she builds confidence The Practical Stuff: Crate trained (especially when near her dog friends) Can also be left out with her canine companions without getting into trouble Housebroken, though she may need a little refresher as she settles into a new home Has lived successfully with and without a dog door Poppe does have a tendency to become a little protective of “her person,” so she'll do best with someone who can kindly set boundaries and not let that behavior take hold.
