Buffy is a sweet, active, and independent 16 year old, 12 lb who is healthy, happy, well-trained, calm, and loving. Don't let his age fool you, this boy acts half his age and is healthy as a pup. He is cooperative with other dogs but has never been around children or cats. He enjoys walks, running with other dogs at the park, and visiting with people. While he enjoys playing, he often explores the dog park on his own and signals when he is ready to leave. He walks easily on a leash and is always eager to go, however with that in mind, this curious, confident pooch is also capable of "taking himself" for a stroll without inviting you. He can be an escape artist, though he has never truly run far away. The main concerns have been his small size and decreased hearing, but his eyesight appears completely fine. He wakes at 6:30 AM (early bird gets the worm!) and immediately pees and poops. Then he is ready to keep you company, either going back to bed or out for a walk. He eats kibble softened with warm broth and soft dog food twice a day. He has nice manners with other dogs and does not beg or bark. Buffy is very content to be with you, but is not demanding in any way, except he will cry, bark, and let everybody know if left alone in his kennel. He is perfectly well behaved in the house, the car, the vet's office, and public places. He often needs a lift on high places like the couch or bed and does not mind being carried short distances. He likes the chair by the window and time outside. The first two weeks in foster care, a belly band was used to prevent him from lifting his leg. Once a routine was established of when and where his fosters wanted him to go, the problem has completely stopped. He gets let outside under supervision several times a day to go potty.
