About Poppy
Poppy is a 1.5-year-old Great Pyrenees with a heart as large as her 80-pound, fluffy frame. She’s still working on putting on a few healthy pounds but doesn’t let that stop her from seeking out all the human attention she can get. If you love the idea of a living weighted blanket, Poppy will happily oblige, wedging herself into any available lap or nestling close by, belly-ready for rubs. She's happiest among people and loves to be in the middle of any activity, especially if it means more petting and attention. Poppy thrives in the company of other dogs, no matter their size. Her gentle temperament shines when she adjusts her play to accommodate smaller pups, letting them climb and romp all over her. Ideally, she’d love a canine friend to cuddle and play with in her new home. Poppy’s leash manners are impressive, and she enjoys casual strolls, but she’ll need regular brushing to keep her long, beautiful coat in good shape. She isn’t a fan of the crate but has been well-behaved when left to roam solo. Poppy is not known to be house trained, and adopters should be ready for more work in that department. She’s also not suited for homes with cats, but gets along well with children and other dogs. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. The adoption radius is 60 miles from Silver Spring, MD—if you’re within range, she could be the perfect fit. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
