One look at this beautiful golden long coated Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix and you will fall in love. Trudy was found as a stray in Arlington (a suburb of Dallas). She looked like she had been out for a while. When found, she had matted hair, was covered with fleas and had really long nails. She had no identification collar, tags or microchip. Sadly her owners never came looking at her. When her stray hold was up, the Arlington Animal Shelter asked if we could bring her into our program and help find her a forever home. We are happy to help – she is a great girl. Trudy gets along well with the other small to medium dogs. She loves to play and will run and tumble with them. She enjoys exploring the yard and also loves to sun herself. This girl has a high energy level and her joyous personality is fun to be around. Trudy does not do well with cats (she chases them and will not leave them alone!) so we recommend no cats in her forever home. Trudy also loves toys of all kinds. Trudy LOVES people. She has an outgoing personality and loves being the center of attention. Trudy is so excited when you get home from work that she meets you at the door with her tail wagging as hard as it will go! She has a tiny body with BIG excitement, and a little jumping with joy (which we are working on!). Trudy will also “talk” to you (IE bark) when she gets excited, but settles down rather quickly. Trudy follows her family from room to room to make sure she does not miss anything. (Note – she is a tripping hazard as she will often get close to your feet). When Trudy is done playing, she loves to crawl up in your lap. She wants to share snuggles and kisses. This girl is a huge love bug and is looking for a family who wants to spend a great deal of time together. Trudy is smart. She is working on her outside potty habits and is doing well. As long as her family is taking her out on a regular schedule, she will continue to learn. Trudy does NOT like crates and will cry and cry. At night, Trudy sleeps in her doggy bed or on a blanket on the couch in the TV room. She would also love to sleep with her family if you would let her. We have begun to walk Trudy on a harness and a leash. She is enjoying the walks, but gets distracted easily because of her youthful curiosity! Trudy is about a year old. She weighs a perfect 9 pounds (and we think most of it is fur – ha). Trudy has a beautiful golden long coat with white highlights. She is so soft. And we love her ears and beautiful eyes. She is a Pomeranian / long coat Chihuahua mix (more Pomeranian!) Trudy’s ideal home will be one with a high activity level. She would love to have another small dog (maybe 1 – 4 years old) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she will be the only dog. Trudy will need a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She would be great in a home where there’s a great deal of activity and people were home a lot. We have noticed that Trudy can be a door darter and we highly recommend a secure inside gate around your front door to keep her safely inside. Due to her alerting to strange noises, we do not think she would do well in an apartment. Trudy LOVES children and would make a great family dog. Trudy is being fostered in the DFW area.
