ALL THE INFORMATION IS HERE: Francesca is a happy, healthy 3-year-old, Maltese mix with a heart full of love and an incredible story of resilience. She's being fostered in PARAMUS, NJ and can't wait to find her forever family. Her young life started differently, with a birth defect, an ectopic ureter that caused urine to leak out of her and she suffered from UTIs. AMAR took her to the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in NYC where, thanks to the help of an Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Grant, she had an ablation procedure done to place the ureter in the bladder to function correctly. Wow, did it work! No leakage anymore, no UTIs and she feels like the active three-year-old she was meant to be. She is 10-pounds of spunk, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. She’s had full bloodwork (which was great), a dental, and tested negative for heartworm and tick-borne diseases. Francesca is a deeply affectionate little dog who loves to cuddle and be close to her person. She has that playful side too—she loves to pounce and she’ll happily empty her toy box and has a special talent for de-stuffing plush toys! She's house-trained to go outside and also uses pee pads.Her foster says, " I can do practically anything to her. I hold her, hug her, play with her paws, flip her on her back. I wake her up and she’s great with all of it." She enjoys her walks and is learning to meet new people. She may bark at first, but with a little patience, she warms up and seeks affection.Francesca would do best in a calm, loving home—ideally with a single woman or a patient adopter. She may do well with another gentle dog. After everything she’s been through, Francesca is ready for her forever home—a place where she will be cherished for the amazing little survivor she is.
