Dexter Von Dechow is a striking 9-month-old sable German Shepherd mix who catches your eye with his unusual coloring and compact size for the breed. His shorter, medium-length coat is easy to care for and shines in the sunlight. Dexter’s story is unique—he was found living in a cemetery in East LA. No one knows if he was loyally waiting for someone or if he’d simply found a quiet place to hide out, but he's become a favorite with the volunteers and staff. Everyone wants to spend time with him because he’s so exceptionally well behaved. Walking Dexter is a pleasure; he doesn’t pull on the leash and ignores other dogs as he strolls by. He already knows his "sit" and waits politely for treats, showing off a gentle side. As he’s settled in, glimpses of his playful, silly personality have started to come out. Dexter says no to cats but gets along well with other dogs, especially gentle ones—he’ll happily chase after a sweet playmate in a group. He’s ready for a home that appreciates a kind, affectionate pup who brings out the best in those around him. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
