About Fred Pembroke

Meet Fred 🐾 -- Your Easygoing, Loyal Companion Fred is a 12-year-old, 50 lb mixed breed (likely Lab/Boxer mix with a beautiful brindle coat) who is looking for a soft landing and a loving home to call his own. Fred's story hasn't been the easiest. Born in 2014, he was surrendered in South Carolina in 2020 and made his way to Massachusetts, where he was adopted. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances, he was recently left behind and has been passed from one temporary situation to another before landing with a kind Good Samaritan who is now helping him find the stable, loving home he truly deserves. Despite his past uncertainty, Fred has remained an exceptionally gentle, loving, and well-mannered dog. Fred's personality in a nutshell: Calm and easygoing -- a true "old soul." Loves everyone he meets Great on leash and enjoys his walks Well-behaved in the home and knows basic commands Not food aggressive at all Friendly with other animals (even tries to make friends with cats!) Fred would thrive in a home looking for a loyal, low-key companion -- someone who enjoys daily walks but also appreciates a relaxed, steady presence by their side. At his age, Fred is starting to show a little stiffness consistent with mild arthritis, but he's still happy to get out and enjoy life. He is neutered and was previously up to date on vaccines (though he will likely need routine vetting to bring him current). He's been to the vet again and had a senior panel bloodwork, exam for his joints and given some meds to help. Overall, in good shape for an old boy - he does need a dental, which we will get done at our expense after adoption. Ideal home: Fred would be a wonderful match for an older or more laid-back household looking for a devoted companion. He's the kind of dog who will quietly become your shadow and your best friend. Fred has so much love left to give -- he just needs someone willing to give him the second chance he's been waiting for. 💛 Name: Fred - Pembroke, MA Breed: Plott Hound/Crossbreed (Breed mx is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).
