About Davinci
Basics • DaVinci, sometimes Vinci for short. • Age / Size: 3 years, 15 lbs • Rescued in Texas 💛 Personality Snapshot • Describe in 3–5 words: Eager, Snuggler, Smart, Attentive, Sweet • Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Moderate • More people‑oriented or independent? He attaches very well to one person, bit of a Velcro dog with them. He enjoys gentle snuggles and pets from the rest. He can be independent when he needs to be (if you’re working for example), and will either sleep nearby, or enjoys chewing on a rawhide treat. • How do they handle new situations? With curiosity! He is very brave, and while he might show some signs of nervousness, he can be coaxed with a little gentle encouragement. 🐕 Social & Home Life • How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Mostly great! He meets new people with curiosity, but I would recommend taking it slow with him when meeting others, as he can get a little overstimulated. Gentle interactions are best at first. • How are they with other dogs? I’ve only introduced him to other dogs while on leash, and so far he has been quite neutral and only taken polite interest. He can get excited to see approaching dogs while on leash but is easily redirected. • Cats or other animals (if known)? Not known. • Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: The longest that we have left him alone for is 3 hours, and he did very well! We take him to go potty before and after, and give him a favorite toy and rawhide chew and he seemed to handle it great. We haven’t had guests visit our apartment yet while he’s been here. 🎓 Training & Manners • Potty trained? Yes, does best with a regular schedule with frequent potty breaks. • Crate trained? Not known. • Leash skills: He walks very well on a leash! He loves sniffing everything, but comes easily when you make a kissing sound, or give a small tug. He loves walks! • Commands known (if any): He knows sit (with a treat), we are working on stay, and wait! 🌞 Daily Life • Typical day with you: Wake up at 7 am, go potty (15 mins), breakfast, potty and head to studio, studio painting time with a few 20-30 minute breaks in between, head home with a potty break, dinner, some chill time before another potty break. Chill or play until the last potty break before bed at 10 PM. Weekends are a bit more relaxed, but with frequent potty breaks and playtime at the park! • Exercise needs: At least an hour total of walking a day. He needs a bit of activity, and mental stimulation, but he is also really good about chilling when you need him to. • Favorite activities or toys: He loves his rawhide chews, duck stuffy, and snuggling up in your arms, lap, or right beside you, and going on walks! 🌱 Growth Areas • Anything they’re still working on? Learning to go potty when given opportunities, playing gently. He tends to be a bit of a Velcro dog with one person, so we’re working on desensitizing and a routine! • What helps them succeed? Consistent, reachable expectations and gentle assurance in new situations. If he gets overstimulated (starts pacing, or being more reactive), it helps stop what you’re doing and try to relax with him. He responds very well to gentle reassurance! He has settled into his routine much more, and has been less reactive than the first few days. 🏡 Ideal Home • Only dog / With dog / Either: Probably only dog, but I’m not sure if he would be ok with another dog. • Good fit for apartment living? Yes, absolutely! • Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): I would say moderate, a mix of both. He gets zoomies sometimes, but they typically last about 10 seconds. He loves snuggling up too. • What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone patient, and with some dog experience already. Someone who would be willing to do a little work to get him to be a comfortable city companion. 💙 Foster Note He is such an incredible dog!!! We absolutely adore him. He is very eager to please, and tries so hard to be good. He just wants to love and be loved in return, and have a little fun in between. He will make such a fantastic companion, he just needs a little work desensitizing to certain things, and building confidence in his new environment. He is treat/food motivated, and shows so much enthusiasm for going out on walks, belly rubs, and getting good quality snuggle time. Any adopter would be so lucky to have such a cute winner of a pup!
