Dog's Name: Drew (DRE0326OTHMD) Estimated Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix Approximate Age: 5 years Approximate Weight: 45 lbs Currently Living at: Foster Adoption Fee: $400 DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Meet Drew — Your Second Chance Story Drew is a handsome 45-pound Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix whose past hasn't been easy. He came from a hoarding situation where he spent his life confined to a cage/room. Because of that, the world can feel a bit big and unfamiliar—but he's learning quickly, and his resilience is truly inspiring. Despite everything, he remains incredibly sweet, trusting, and eager to love. This sweet boy may be a little shy at first—especially around men—but give him just a little time and he will choose you as his person. Drew is wonderful with everyone he meets—dogs, cats, and kids alike. He's crate-trained, doesn't bark or whine, and is respectful in the home. He listens beautifully, walks nicely on leash, and rides like a dream in the car. Drew does have a bit of that herding-dog energy, but he's not over-the-top. He'll pace a bit when he's unsure, a leftover habit from his past, but he's also perfectly happy to relax and just be near his person once he feels safe. If you have room in your heart for a shy soul ready to bloom, Drew is waiting for you. Apply today! Your pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
