About Cessily
When dogs come in this at this level of starvation, it’s not just about gaining weight. It’s about feeling safe and finding confidence. A dog‘s personality will definitely change as they recover from this type of neglect. Cessily didn’t even walk. It wasn’t all because she was so frail light breeze would blow her over. She was also scared in a new place surrounded by noise and smells and chaos that she’s never had before. Once the leash was off and we were outside, Cessily starts to become herself. She likes what she likes and loves one-on-one attention. She doesn’t want dog friends. She deserves time and space to heal and not be afraid of food not being available. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
