About Fiona
Fiona is a giant, goofy girl with a heart of gold. She weighs about 130 lbs, and her DNA test came back 100% Mastiff. Everyone who meets her absolutely falls in love with her sweet personality. She loves to play and then settle in for a good nap. Fiona is friendly with other dogs, but due to her large size we recommend a home without small dogs. She sometimes doesn’t realize just how big she is. This is actually the reason she is being rehomed. In her previous home, she nipped a much smaller dog during an interaction. While it’s believed she did not intend to cause harm, the smaller dog sadly did not survive. Following the incident, Fiona completed a 10-day board-and-train evaluation where trainers reported she was a great dog and showed no signs of aggression. Everyone who has evaluated her agrees it was a tragic accident, but because there are two very small dogs currently in the home, her family feels it’s safest to find her a better fit. Fiona is potty trained and knows the commands “sit,” “down,” and “go to bed” (which means going to her bed and staying in place). She’s a smart girl, but when she gets very excited she can have trouble containing herself. On walks, Fiona can become excited when she sees people or other dogs. She has had some leash training but would benefit from continued training with someone comfortable handling a strong dog—she has a lot of muscle behind her! Because walks can sometimes be a challenge, a home with a fenced backyard would be ideal for her to run and play. Fiona is such a special dog and would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a big cuddle buddy to watch movies with on the couch or play tug with in the backyard.
