About Butterscotchand Mama Bonded Pair
Surrendered in March 2026, Mama (DOB 2019) and Butterscotch (DOB 2020) are heart breakers. Giving them up to Safe Haven broke their owner’s heart. She had to move out of state to be a caregiver to an elderly father, and his residence does not permit pets. Being surrendered was sad and scary, and Mama and Butterscotch went through a period of depression. Now they’re back together in one of our sunny, spacious adoption rooms. There are plenty of other beds to sleep in, but Butterscotch still prefers to drape himself over Mama, especially when she’s getting attention. Maybe he’s afraid she’ll be taken away from him again, but we’re going to make sure this doesn’t happen. They must be adopted together. Mama age 7, and Butterscotch age 6, are quite a pair of gingers. Mama is dwarfed by her big baby’s ginormous size. His long fluffy coat makes him look even larger, and he is a total love bug with an insatiable desire to play. She is rather petite, short haired and a bit shy, but loves pets. It’s comical to watch Butterscotch squeeze his oversize body next to his Mama. To fit more easily, he drapes his big fluffy arm over her side and rests his head on her body. He wants to be mom’s shadow. How does mom feel about it? She’ll give her boy a hiss if he gets totally obnoxious and then all is well. These two cats are wonderful and sweet and so ready for a forever home. Both beautiful ginger cats are silly, great with people, and would probably be very good with respectful older children. They get along really well with all of the cats in the adoption room. Mama and Butterscotch are very desirable kitties and we recommend you don’t wait to adopt them. To meet Mama and Butterscotch and visit the Safe Haven shelter located at the Thrift Shop/Cattail Farm, 1784 Post Road, Wells, ME (Route 1). Please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. We will be in touch to make an appointment for your visit.
