About Mickey
Mickey came to Safe Haven after being found in a shed, and despite being adopted once, found his way back to the rescue after his behavior proved challenging for his adopter. Mickey is a diabetic, but his condition is well managed with a daily liquid medication in his wet food each morning. He also receives calming powder to help with some fractious tendencies. This big tabby loves gazing out the window from his cat tree or curling up inside his favorite cubby. His tunnel is where he burns off a little energy. Mickey enjoys gentle pets on his terms, but he is clear that he wants to be the only animal in the house. He needs an adopter with cat experience, who can respect his moods and cues — loud voices, quick movements, and other animals can set him off. He communicates his boundaries well if you pay attention. A calm, quiet home without children will give Mickey the best shot at long-term happiness. He has potential to become a loyal companion for someone patient who will let him settle at his own pace. Give him time, and he just might choose your side as his favorite spot.
