About Gertie
Meet Gertie Breed: Dutch Shepherd/lab mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 76 pounds If sunshine had four legs and a turbo button, it would be Gertie. At just 1 year old, this 76-pound Dutch Shepherd mix is a big, beautiful bundle of energy, loyalty, and love. She’s the kind of dog who wakes up ready to do life with you. Whether that’s hitting the trails, cruising in the car with the windows down, or sprinting around the yard like she’s training for the Olympics. Gertie absolutely thrives with dogs her size and loves having a playmate who can keep up with her zoomies. She’s not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must. She’s already kennel trained and has a solid foundation of basic training, but like any young, spirited pup, she’ll need a family committed to continuing her training, especially with leash manners and recall. The good news? Gertie is very food motivated, which makes training both fun and effective. Because of her size and enthusiasm, Gertie would do best in a home with older kids who won’t get accidentally knocked over during her happy dances. She also needs a fenced yard to safely burn off energy, or an active adopter who will regularly take her to secure areas where she can run and play freely. Despite her athletic side, Gertie has a soft, snuggly core. She adores people (men and women alike) and will happily climb into your lap if you let her… all 76 pounds of her. Gertie is looking for an active home that will embrace her zest for life, continue her training, and love her for the big-hearted, joyful girl she is. Ready to meet your adventure buddy?
